| This high-energy traditional western cue was written for a montage scene depicting Wyatt Earp and his companions in their final drive to bring the villainous "Cowboys" to justice.
The music starts off with a tribute to composer Elmer Bernstein as the scene begins. Wyatt Earp and his fellow heros immediately begin hunting down the Cowboys, one-by-one and with guns blazing. The music goes into a new section as Earp and Co. are portrayed as more grim, more determined, and more dedicated than ever. Finally, in a slow-motion sequence, the companions catch up to the last remaining Cowboy, and the music bursts back into the main theme as we watch the "Immortals" gallop across a sweeping landscape. The music and scene come to an end as the aftermath of the pursuit transitions to a shot of Earp paying a visit to his friend, Doc Holliday, in a hospital.
Like any composer worth his or her dramatic salt, I *love* writing for a full orchestra. This recording was an absolute blast to make. Despite the music being compositionally straightforward, capturing the recording of this cue was an exhilarating experience enjoyed by all involved. There's just nothing like having 70 some-odd musicians getting together to "go get the bad guys" while you stand right in the middle. I love cues like this.
